Licensing System

Autodoc is updated from time to time to keep up with the latest versions of the firewall configuration files. We have a very simple licensing system on a yearly basis. Every Autodoc license includes the possibility to download the software for the duration of one year. After that year, you can continue to use the software, but you cannot download the software anymore. If you want to download again, you need a new license.

Which license do I have to buy?

Basically there are three different licenses available: 'Autodoc for WatchGuard', 'Autodoc for Fortinet' and 'Autodoc for SonicWALL'. Additionally there exist licenses for different numbers of firewalls you want to create documentation for (1, up to 10, up to 20, up to 50, unlimited). It's not relevant whether you create documents for your own firewalls or for your customer's firewalls. Just the number has to be correct.

ATTENTION: The license for one firewall (1 Unit) does not allow to change header and footer of the report printed out. Commandline batch HTML export is also not possible with the 1 Unit license.

Can Autodoc export the documentation into an editable format?

Autodoc can export to HTML.

TOP

Is it possible to change / adapt header and footer in the printed document?

If you have a license for 10 firewalls or more, you can change the text in header and footer.

TOP

How much licenses do I need for a Firewall-Cluster?

A cluster of two firewalls (active-active or active-passive) counts as one firewall for Autodoc. That means, that you only need one license for the cluster, not two.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a Firebox X Core/III with WFS?

Use the Policy Manager to save your configuration to a file (Menu 'File->Save->As File'). Open this configuration file (.cfg) with Autodoc.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a Firebox X (Core/Peak) with Fireware Pro?

Use the Policy Manager to save your configuration to a file (Menu 'File->Save->As File'). Open this configuration file (.xml) with Autodoc.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a Firebox SOHO(tc) or a Firebox X Edge?

To create a documentation, you need a configuration file. Have a look at the configuration data on your Box (Menu: Administration->View Configuration File). Select the configuration entries and copy them to a text editor (copy/paste). Save this data as text into a file with suffix .cfg and open this file with Autodoc.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a Firebox Vclass?

You need a Autodoc for WatchGuard license. To create the documentation, you have to export the Vclass configuration to a XML file (using the Vcontroller). This XML file can be opened by Autodoc.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a Fortinet Firewall?

You need a Autodoc for Fortinet license. To create the documentation, you have to backup the Fortinet configuration to a .cfg file (Menu System->Status->Backup). This file can be opened by Autodoc.

TOP

How can I create documentation of a SonicWALL?

You need a Autodoc for SonicWALL license. To create the documentation, you have to backup the SonicWALL settings to a .exp file (Menu System->Settings->Export Settings). This file can be opened by Autodoc.

TOP

How do I get the license keys?

The license keys are delivered by email.
