Which firmware versions are supported?

Which manufacturer are supported?

Autodoc supports configuration files from Fortinet, Watchguard, SonicWall and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

Licensing System

Autodoc is updated from time to time to keep up with the latest versions of the firewall configuration files. We have a very simple licensing system on a yearly basis. Every Autodoc license includes the possibility to download the software for the duration of one year. After that year, you can continue to use the software, but you cannot download the software anymore. If you want to download again, you need a new license.

Which license do I have to buy?

Basically there are four different licenses available: 'Autodoc for WatchGuard', 'Autodoc for Fortinet', 'Autodoc for SonicWALL' and 'Autodoc for Palo Alto Networks'. Additionally there exist licenses for different numbers of firewalls you want to create documentation for (1, up to 10, up to 20, up to 50, unlimited). It's not relevant whether you create documents for your own firewalls or for your customer's firewalls. Just the number has to be correct.

ATTENTION: The license for 1 firewall does not allow to change header and footer of the report printed out. Commandline batch HTML export is also not possible with the license for 1 unit.

Why do I need an account when I want to buy or register a license?

To register a license and download the software you need an account anyway. So that you don't have to enter your data multiple times, it makes sense to create the account when you buy a license. If you are logged in, all important functions are available to you in the dashboard.

Can Autodoc export the documentation into an editable format?

Autodoc can export to HTML.

Is it possible to change / adapt header and footer in the printed document?

If you have a license for 10 firewalls or more, you can change the text in header and footer.

How much licenses do I need for a Firewall-Cluster?

A cluster of two firewalls (active-active or active-passive) counts as one firewall for Autodoc. That means, that you only need one license for the cluster, not two.

How can I create a documentation of a Watchguard XTM/XTMv or Firebox/FireboxV?

You need a Autodoc for Watchguard license. Use the Policy Manager to save your configuration to a file (Menu 'File->Save->As File'). By WebUI you can download the configuration file as .gz file (Menu 'System->Configuration File->Download'). Now you can unpack the .gz file and will find the configuration file as .xml. Open this configuration file (.xml) with Autodoc.

How can I create a documentation of a Fortinet Firewall?

You need a Autodoc for Fortinet license. To create the documentation, you have to backup the Fortinet configuration to a .cfg file (Menu System->Status->Backup). This file can be opened by Autodoc.

How can I create a documentation of a SonicWALL?

You need a Autodoc for SonicWALL license. To create the documentation, you have to backup the SonicWALL settings to a .exp file (Menu System->Settings->Export Settings). This file can be opened by Autodoc.

How can I create a documentation of a Palo Alto Networks Firewall?

You need a Autodoc for Palo Alto Networks license. To create the documentation, you have to backup the Palo Alto Networks settings to a .xml file (Menu Device->Setup->Operations->Export->Export named configuration snapshot). This file can be opened by Autodoc.
